Frothing..

.. TO RACE. Yesterday drove me CRAZY because I just wanted to be in the mess of things. Sprint, Half, Relay WHATEVER. ANYTHING.

Today is one of "those" days..

Warm up: feelin' strong!
Main set: feelin' wrong..
Cool down: stupid grin on my face from knowing it was one of the worst swims I've had in awhile.

Of course I wasn't super happy about my performance during the main set, but I got it done in spite of heavy arms and low spirits.

Sometimes you just gotta let go.

Congratulations to Adam O'Meara for his convincing win at the New Balance Half-Ironman yesterday. Also congrats to Mike for putting forward a tough challenge for Mike and laying down a solid time for 2nd! Also worthy of mention is Tyler/Mike's relay team (2nd men's team), and the solid performances of the rest of the PT crew! Couldn't be happier to be a part of this team!!!

Everyone looks GREAT and I look like some gooned creeper off to the side. Perfect.

Slight change in plans... Kinda!

It's been a busy past few weeks!

First, Shawnigan didn't happen. Let's just leave it at that. My hamstring inflexibility severely hampered my ability to run.. until NOW.. but more on that later.

Second, I had an AMAZING time in Kingston with Ally for the few days I was able to get out there for (and that she was able to get off work from camp!). Kingston is a BEAUTIFUL city, and I was blown away! It reminds me a lot of Victoria, except that the general architecture in Kingston is STUNNING. We squeezed a LOT of things into my short 4 day visit, and I'm glad I got to see where Ally spends her summer (both RKY and Kingston)! Next time I'm out there is July 28th and I couldn't be more excited!

Now on to the rest of my life in general. Work at the pool is work. Nothing exciting. Thankfully no excitement at all in the form of first aids or rescues.

Training is where it's at though. Since the week after Shawnigan I haven't run on land due to this hamstring issue. What's happening, in a nutshell, is that my hamstrings are so tight in my left leg that it's causing acute pain on the medial side of my knee. I described this more in my post previous to Shawnigan. Anyways, after some physio, lots of yoga, and some isolating exercises, I am READY to run again! My first run back was today and while it was only 30' easy, MAN did it feel good. Watching NCAAs, Hy-Vee, "Without Limits" has made me miss running like CRAZY! But now I'm back and it's ON like Donkey Kong!!!!

Swimming is rockin' along. Cycling is a VERY close second to my favourite sport of running. I couldn't be happier.. ESPECIALLY now that I can run again.

In the meantime, enjoy this string of Old Spice commercials that I think are ridiculous AND ridiculously HILARIOUS!!

PAYCE

PS: Congrats to everyone that's been racing.
Adam, Leif, Nick and Tyler at Shawnigan. Very solid performances all around!!!
And last but not least Kamal and Leif in WASA.
Good luck to everyone racing this weekend at New Balance as well :)

Cycling adventures in Metchosin and beyond!

This is where the bad triathletes go....

It's a good thing this wasn't a video clip, or you'd see my MASSIVE biceps rip through those pretty arm warmers

To find a certain animal we go!

Found some horsies... BUT it's the wrong animal

COWS COWS MY COWS

The end... A beautiful bike and a beautiful Prev!

As a side note, the new bike is AMAZING. I've never been this comfortable on a bike before. Thanks again Rider's for the bike AND the awesome kit!
